Welcome to BLES Magazine and thank you for taking the time to get to know a little more about me, the girl behind BLES Magazine. My name is Malu Swartjes and I am a 24 year old girl from the Netherlands. I could describe myself as creative, energetic and ambitious. I am always eager to learn and I'd do anything to achieve my goals. When I discovered that I could express my love for fashion and writing into blogging, one of my goals was to start a succesfull and international fashion blog.

I started my very first fashion and beauty blog in January 2011, called The Stylish Confessions. It quickly gave me the opportunity to work with amazing international companies like Zalando, Harrods, Luxury for Princess, UGG Australia and One Piece Jumpin. I loved being able to offer companies and a brands online exposure, and I loved being able to entertain, inform and inspire my daily readers. Because of my blog I was often in Hollands' capital city, Amsterdam, for all kinds of events, fashion shows, press days and store launches. It was amazing to get to know the most influential people in the fashion world and it opened a lot of doors for me. Networking is key, and that is one of the most important lessons I've learned as a blogger on a personal note.

After a few years, I felt like I became too focussed on being and looking like the perfect fashion blogger. In real life and on social media. It took the fun away from it all, so I decided to take a step back. I didn't want to be the centerpoint of attention anymore and I wanted to write about more topics than mainly my own looks and outfits. That's when I decided to shut down my blog and launch BLES Magazine. Luckily for me, that was after 6 years of blogging and towards the end of my study. I could use everything I had learned over the years for the big launch of BLES Magazine. Dutch media picked up the news and BLES Magazine grew an international audience very quickly.

It was a big step to quit being a fashion blogger, but it felt very freeing to me. I could finally take a step back and focus on writing about various topics and providing high quality content for a much broader audience, instead of caring most about looking picture perfect 24/7. Nowadays I write for BLES Magazine on a daily basis, as well as working on my own online business and working for a Dutch webshop part-time. Having that freedom and the opportunity to write about all the things I love here on BLES Magazine, whenever I want and from wherever I want, is what I love about this job so much.

I hope you enjoy reading BLES Magazine as much as I enjoy filling it with inspiring and entertaining content every day!
